GREENWOOD YOUTH + TEENS

The populations we collaboratively serve, are youth ages 7-9. 10-12 + teens ages 13-14, 15-17, that self-identify Greenwood as their community, which includes; residents, both longterm + temporary, transitional + homeless youth/teens.  Guardians of youth ages 6+under are encouraged to connect directly with schools + licensed childcare organizations to stay informed about resources + events.

NEXT GENERATION GUARDIANS

When sudden change affects a community, adults have a golden opportunity to provide wisdom + mentorship by guiding youth in discovering how to engage unanticipated situations in healthy ways.  We want youth + teens to have a distinctive voice in Greenwood that's all their own, so we can learn how change is affecting them + how they want to affect change locally + beyond.

COLLABORATING YOUTH ORGANIZATIONS

Greenwood Blasts OffThe individuals + organizations collaborating to coordinate TM resources, contests, workshops and events, enjoy the solidarity of joining forces to generate a positive impact on the next generation that's more holistic than a single organization could achieve alone.  We're collaborating with youth + teens to develop new ways organizations can incorporate tailored opportunities to engage and process a communiry amidst flux into their existing programs.  If any of these efforts are of interest to you, or you own a business in Greenwood that would like to collaborate or contribute, contact these organizations directly, by clicking "Orgs" tab above.

WHO?

HOW?

THE NEXT GENERATION CREATES FRESH CONNECTIONS + BUILDS RESILIENCE + INCREASES COMPASSION WHEN THEY ENGAGE REAL-LIFE INCIDENTS AS OPPORTUNITIES TO IMAGINE NEW POSSIBILITIES

Communities in the grips of change, need tailored tools to meaningfully engage + support youth + teens with age-appropriate emotional + creative outlets + events + resources, in addition to supporting adults, re-construction + commerce restoration efforts.

Greenwood Blasts Off TM serves as a hub for youth, teens, their guardians, and the greater community, to connect, contribute, and stay informed about opportunities, events, and resources specifically tailored toward assisting the next generations with processing changes affecting their sense of place within their community.

WHY?

Greenwood is home to a diverse spectrum of youth + teen support systems, including professional youth development organizations, schools, academic assistance centers, music + arts education companies, next-gen geared businesses + many more!  When a community's physical sense-of-place is suddenly + dramatically altered, next-gen geared organizations have an opportunity to collaboratively support youth + teens more holistically than they could on their own, by communicating + contributing their collective best to increase their community's bandwidth to cultivate sustainable longterm resources.  We're utilizing this site as an information portal to share collaborative programs, events, contests + workshops geared toward youth + teens exploring their sense-of-place in the Greenwood neighborhood.

The North Seattle Boys & Girls Club + Fred Meyer Greenwood + Sip&Ship invite youth + teens to share their vision of what Greenwood means to them by entering the My Greenwood Ship TM design + coloring contest, The Bureau of Fearless Ideas have written + are giving live readings from their new Encyclopedia Greenwoodia with proceeds supporting the Greenwood Relief Fund, and School of Rock Seattle + The North Seattle Boys & Girls Club are determining the feasibility of an outdoor youth/teen concert in late August.

If any of these efforts are of interest to you, or you own a business in Greenwood that would like to collaborate or contribute, contact these organizations directly, by clicking "Orgs" tab above.

Fred Meyer Greenwood generously donated over

$100 in prizes to the GreenwoodBlastsOffTM  Design/Coloring contest!  Visit the YOUTH or TEENS pages for details.
